- Green: Low risk of rip currents
- Yellow: Moderate risk of rip currents. Caution is advised.
- Red: High risk of rip currents. Conditions are considered dangerous.
- Purple: Indicates the presence of hazardous marine life.

Cameron county also offers visitors six different beach access points on northern end of the Island. Two of the six county accesses are parks, access one is Andy Bowie County Park and access five is Edwin King Atwood county park. Both these parks offer perfect amenities to fit your beach day needs such as parking area, RV hook-up sites, beach side covered pavilion, BBQ areas, restrooms and showers, and a boardwalk to the beach.
Ready for a beach day at County Access 3 or 6, or soaking up the sun at Andy Bowie or Edwin King Atwood Park? Just remember—it’s a $12 per‑vehicle parking fee and cash only. So stash those bills in your glove box and get ready for sand, smiles, and peace of mind!
To differentiate cameron county beach access points from the city of South Padre Island’s beach access points, you’ll notice any signage concerning the cameron county access points does not contain the three, blue, pink and yellow umbrellas, but the city beach access points do.
